What is Surfski ?
Surfski paddling originated in Australia in the 1920’s as rescue craft and have now become high performance competition craft as well as easy to use water craft ideally suited to the open water. The Surf Live Saving Spec skis have strict design restrictions, as opposed to the Ocean surfski we use for which there are no design restrictions.
The design of a Ocean surfski takes the best of the SLS Spec Ski and combines it with the efficiency of the Racing K1 to cut through water incredibly ease.
A Surfski paddler can be likened to a fell runner, with the mindset to travel fast and light.
The standard Ocean Surfski have little room for storage, so Epic have developed a number of Touring Surfskis with storage.
Safety is of paramount importance and the decisions you make, whether you want to experience the surfski on flat water, exploring the coast, for fitness or decide to move up and progress to more advanced paddling in surf and waves.
The advanced design with good efficient technique makes paddling on flat water super simple because you can go so much further, faster, and easier than you can in a heavier and therefore slower sea kayak.
Once you learn the correct technique they are also much safer and easier than sea kayaks to remount.
Surfskis are for people who like getting out on the water for a couple of hours for fitness or for pleasure, with no hassle or constraint to you enjoying your paddling.
